Since my teenage years, I have had a passion for complementary therapies and holistic ways of healing. I have always believed that while our Western medicine is really good and has a lot to offer when it comes to finding, treating and often curing illness, it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to holistic care of the patient where physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual well-being are taken into account. I belief that the best patient-centred care is one where medical professionals and holistic therapists come together to treat the patient holistically. These beliefs lead me first to Reiki, then to Mindfulness Meditation, then to the essential oils and the Aroma Touch Technique from do TERRA, then to holistic massage and finally to my training as Death Doula (End Of Life Companion).
I have more than 20 years experience working with clients ofall age groups and from all walks of life. I had my first practice in Germany. After relocating to Ireland in 2010, I opened my practice Healing Well in Dublin. I have an ever-growing number of regular clients as well as a constant stream of new clients who are interested in holistic healing and alternative medicine. Here is a little bit about all the services I offer at Healing Well in Dublin.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe way to enhance and maintain physical, emotional and mental well-being. The purpose of a Reiki healing is to rebalance the client’s energy-level and to give more energy into parts of the being where support and healing are needed. During a one-hour long Reiki healing the client is lying fully clothed on a comfortable massage table. Starting at their head, I place my hands gently on different parts of the client’s body and let the energy flow in. A Reiki healing is a very relaxing experience. It is not unusual for clients to fall asleep during a Reiki healing. Some people feel warmth or heat or tingling but it is not necessary to feel anything for the energy to work. Reiki helps to remove blockages in the energy system and brings the client’s energy back into perfect flow.
The wonderful thing about learning to practice Reiki is not only great because then you can give Reiki healing to family and friends and anyone around you who may be in need of energy work, but you can also give Reiki to yourself. At my practice Healing Well I teach all Reiki levels from beginner to advanced and this also includes the teacher training if a client feels drawn to teaching Reiki themselves. All training takes place on a one-to-one basis which gives the client plenty of time to ask questions and to go through their personal journey with this beautiful energy healing technique.
Essential oils and Aroma Touch Technique
When I first came across the essential oils from do TERRA, I wasn’t sure how much essential oils would actually be able to do for me. I was feeling pretty low at the time, physically and emotionally drained, and I went to a therapist a colleague had recommended to me not knowing what to expect. I was blown away by the experience of the essential oils she used during the session – and since then I have been hooked. Essential oils have become an intrinsic part of my daily life. The more I felt the positive effect the essential oils had on me and my life the more I wanted to share this amazing gift with others. This is why I spent the last number of years training to become a do TERRA Wellness Advocate and to learn the Aroma Touch Technique, a way of applying specific essential oils to meridian points and energy points on the spine and the feet of the client to bring the whole system back into homeostacis. Today I often combine the Reiki healing and the essential oils in my work with clients.
Mindfulness Meditation workshops
I was introduced to meditation in my early twenties. Since then, meditation has been an important part of my daily life. After a number of years of practicing meditation for myself, I decided to train as a Mindfulness Meditation instructor in order to be able to give this wonderful tool to others who may need it. Today I am teaching Mindfulness Meditation both on a one-to-one basis in person and on Zoom.
Following the loss of my husband and a lot of work through my grief, I knew that what I really wanted to do was to specialise in grief and bereavement support, support for cancer patients before, during and after treatment, and support for carers. I developed a program for each group of clients during the first 18 months of living with COVID-19.
I have been doing my training to become a Death Doula or End Of Life Companion with Living Well Dying Well and End Of Life Doula UK because I want to help people who are nearing the end of their life and their families to die a good death.
